Mining Surveillance Systems 1.1
MSS is a satellite-based monitoring system which aims to establisha regime of responsive mineral administration, through publicparticipation, by curbing instances of illegal mining activitythrough automatic remote sensing detection technology. Ministry ofMines, through Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), has developed the MSS,in coordination with Bhaskaracharya Institute for SpaceApplications and Geo-informatics (BISAG), Gandhinagar and Ministryof Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), to use spacetechnology for curbing illegal mining activity in the country. Thisuser-friendly mobile app has been created which can be used bythese officials to submit compliance reports of their inspections.The mobile app also aims to establish a participative monitoringsystem where the citizens also can use this app and report unusualmining activity. The advantages of remote sensing technology basedmonitoring system are that it is Transparent (Public will beprovided an access to the system); Bias-free and Independent (Thesystem has no human interference); Deterrence Effect (‘Eyeswatching from the sky’); Quicker Response and Action (The miningareas will be monitored regularly. Sensitive areas will bemonitored more frequently); Effective Follow-up (action taken ontriggers will be followed-up at various levels like DMG, StateMining Secretary, State Office and Headquarters Office of IBM andMinistry of Mines, GoI).

The India Industrial Land Bank, a GIS based platformofapproximately 3300 industrial parks over 5 lakh hectares oflandwith information on allotted and available plots, contactdetails,nodal points of connectivity, raw material etc. waslaunched by theHon’ble Minister for Commerce and Industry, ShriPiyush Goyal on29th August 2020. As an additional tool forinvestors, for makingindustrial parks and related informationeasily accessible, theDPIIT developed first version of IndiaIndustrial Land Bank (IILB)Mobile App in collaboration with MeitYand Invest India. The MobileApp has been conceptualized to providemaximum information withoutlogin/sign up. This will act as a liteversion of the IILB webplatform and have requisite on-the-goinformation. The firstversion have been developed with the featuresas listed below: •Home Page – Dynamic updates on No. of Parksmapped, TotalIndustrial Area Mapped (Ha), Total Industrial AreaAvailable (Ha),No. of Plots mapped as shown on IIS web platform. •Parks Near Me -Fetching nearby parks as per the location of user,Map showing theroute to the industrial areas shown as result •Navigate – Narrowdown the search by selecting State, District,Taluka from dropdownlist to get desired results. • Explore Parks –Industrial Parkresults showing information of industrial parksbased on someparameters. • Direct Call feature /Email – The usermay place acall for contact person (using contact details) directlyfrom app.It also provides email options of the phone on clickingthe emailaddress. • Search – Search the Industrial Park directlyusing keywords • Submit Query/Contact Us – Based on theQueries(Investment/Technical), queries would be routed toDPIIT/InvestIndia or BISAG-N
